Class Descriptions

Restorative Yoga
A gentle yoga class which focuses on the restorative and renewing nature of yoga. Students will increase freedom of movement, extension in the joints and range of motion. Modifications of postures are demonstrated as they are needed. The class is also appropriate for seniors and anyone who has particular health issues or limitations. Join anytime.

Intro Level 1 Yoga
A class for individuals without prior yoga experience or beginners who would like a detailed refresher class. A beginning level class suitable for all ages and fitness. This class builds students confidence and prepares them for our more experienced level classes.

This class is appropriate for students of all levels--from beginners to more experienced students. New students will be shown appropriate modifications to ensure that you are introduced to the postures in a safe manner. More experienced students will be shown how to deepen the pose and their practice.
Levels 2&3 Yoga
This class introduces new and continuing students to principles of alignment and breathwork, primary poses, variations and yoga basics, including use of props. Variations are practiced teaching body awareness and movement limits. Modifications will be provided when necessary.
This class meets the 2nd Sunday of each month. A $5 (minimum) donation is recommended. No previous experience is necessary--start whereever you are. Postual assistance, centering, breath awareness, sensory withdrawal, and focusing cues are provided at the start of each practice session. Please arrive early to allow yourself to get comfortable, settle in, decelerate, and begin your own process of transition inward.
This class features a longer section of breathing and warm-ups (about 30 minutes) followed by some standard basic asanas (about 25 minutes) and cool-down and relaxation (20 minutes).
Yoga Sutra Discussion Group
Come for a discussion on the 3rd Friday of each month, all students welcome - no yoga experience needed. This is an informal, relaxed and safe setting to read the Yoga Sutras. We'll have a conversation about how these ancient verses apply to us in today's world, as we each attempt, in the midst of all the craziness, to find our way back to what yoga calls our 'True Nature'. If you have a desire to understand yoga and yourself a little better, as well as explore how each of us can apply these ancient teachings in our lives.  Yoga Asana (postures) practice, as we know it, is a relatively new addition to the broader philosophy of yoga. The Yoga Sutras are brief verses, written about 2,000 years ago, that condense the more all-encompassing yoga philosophy.  Cost: By donation.
Community Zazen
The intention is to keep it simple. While some general guidance will be available to those without experience, sitting is actually an individual experience and the opportunity to sit in a sangha or kula (community) simply increases the energy. We may alternate among seated or walking meditation as the group sees fit.  Cost is by donation.
Yin Yang Intermediate Yoga
This class is intended for the intermediate student with at least 6 months of experience.  This class uses yin poses that are static poses that allow the stretch to move into the joints.  Additionally, the yang poses are more dynamic and engage large muscle groups.  This class will also incorporate pranayama, breath work, to deepen the yoga practice.
Yoga Nidra
This class meets the 4th Sunday of the month. Yoga Nidra is an ancient Yogic practice that is progressively gaining popularity in the West. Yoga Nidra is practiced while in supine position--lying on the back while optimally comfortable and supported. Using body awareness and guided imagery cues, Tim verbally leads participants toward an experience of profound full-body relaxation and deep meditative states where subtler spiritual exploration can take place. Consider yourself welcome to explore with us! No previous experience is necessary.
