Girl Scout "Grow From Within" Fun Patch Classes with Tammy Carr
Available for All Levels of Girl Scouts
Scouts can earn a Girl Scout Alliance approved patch while learning about the benefits of yoga and balanced nutrition.

Tammy is a parent, athletic coach, girl scout leader, and yoga instructor. She utilized yoga in her own personal weight loss. She has created a program that addresses nutrition, stress management, body image, and the importance of excercise.
Scouts must attend six sessions to complete the patch requirements. Cost: $80 per student per session. Cost includes: instruction, patch, use of yoga props, yoga studio rental .
Additional requirements are necessary (they vary by level) and should be completed in addition to the workshop sessions.
- All girl scouts should complete requirements 1 through 4.
- Daisy: complete one additional requirement of their choice.
- Brownie: Complete two additional requirements of their choice.
- Junior: Complete three additional requirements of their choice.
- Cadet, Ambassador, Senior and Future ages 11-17 complete four additional requirements of their choice.
PATCH REQUIREMENTS
1. Attend a six week session of yoga classes once a week. Pre-register with studio for day and time.
2. Keep a food journal for one week of what you eat.
3. For one week (or more if you like) try to drink mainly water instead of sugary drinks.
4. List the yamas and niyamas and how you can live by them. List examples.
5. Do something for the environment. (For example, go around as a group and pick up trash in your local park or neighborhood.)
6. Visit a local organic farm list the foods ground in the season in which you visited.
7. List local places you can purchase organic food. Make a one day menu using organic food products.
8. Buy and decorate your own yoga mat.
9. Make a yoga mat bag with your troop at an overnight event your leader creates.
10. Keep journal for the entire session doing suggested reflections.
11. Practice the poses you learned at home for one day.

This 5-hour long workshop costs $80 per scout (cost of patch is separate).
To earn this interest project patch complete the following seven activities:

Celebration of Life Yoga Parties: Bridal or Baby Showers, Birthday Parties, Retirement, etc.
- An experience you’ll never forget!
- Class may include individual or couples’ yoga, as appropriate.
- Length of party: 1.5 hours ( 1 hour for yoga and relaxation; 1/2 hour for socializing)
On-site Party Cost: $350.00 for the first 15 people / $8.00 for each additional person
Off-site party:The yoga instructor will come to your desired location and will teach a one hour yoga class. Instructor will arrive 20 minutes prior to teaching. The theme of the party can be incorporated into the class taught.
Cost: $325 for one hour of instruction—up to 10 adults

Children’s Yoga Parties
We provide yoga birthday parties for kids of any age (best for kids 3 or older).
On-site party: The party lasts 1 & 1/2 hours (1 hour of yoga, 1/2 hour for eating or gift exchange). Yoga parties can be coordinated around almost any theme: Native Americans, Beach Blanket, Hawaiian Luau, Space Travel, Farm, etc. Families should bring food & drink, cake, paper products and party favors.
Cost: $350/party--up to 10 children
Parties are typically drop-off, but parent participation can be arranged for an additional $40 flat fee.

Deepening Your Practice with Chakra Sadhana with Pat Dunning, Ph.D., E-RYT 500
Learn specific practices for awakening each chakra and for integrating chakra awareness. Also learn preparatory asana practices such as the Satyananda Yoga Pawanmuktasana joint flexing series of movements, to prepare your body for longer periods of sitting with relative ease. Each month participants will receive an audio recording to support their practice.
Our textbook, Kundalini Tantra by Swami Satyananda Saraswati, is available for purchase through yama studio or Nataraj Books in Springfield, Virginia.

Pat Dunning has been teaching and practicing yoga for more than 30 years, is an E-RYT500, and is the first recipient of the 1,000 hour Yama Therapeutics Program at yama studio. Currently, she is a member of the Teacher Training Staff. Pat studied yoga under the tutelage of Professor Risvodkar, an Indian guru, while also pursuing her doctorate in intercultural communication, with a focus on East/West cultures. During her career as a department chair, and faculty member at George Washington University, University of Maryland, Goucher College and Southeastern University, and as Director of Foreign Service Employee Program for the government, she taught yoga part-time to students, faculty, and government personnel. Pat offers yoga, asana, pranayama, philosophy, Ayurveda, meditation and yoga therapy for groups, individuals and corporations. Recently, she developed the Yoga and Ayurveda Wellness Program, a holistic approach for physical, emotional, mental and spiritual harmony and health. She has taught the Chakra Sadhana program in a monthly format and is now offering it as a distance learning course.

Individual Yoga Therapy for Recovery is ideal for those in various states of the recovery process: physical, mental, emotional or spiritual.
Individual Yoga Therapy can assist in re-establishing your sense of Wholeness so that you may once again enjoy robust health and peace of mind.
You will be asked to fill out a set of simple intake forms prior to your first session so we can learn more about you and begin attending to your personal concerns. In that intake session a plan of action will be established that we will ask you to follow for the course of your therapy. An 8 week course of treatment is recommended.
Intake is 75 minutes and follow-up sessions are 60 minutes in length and are designed to attend to your specific needs as a person in recovery.
Month-long “Maintenance” packages are also available after the initial course of treatment.
